Artist Statement:
From my early interest in creation myths emerged astronomy, constellations and clouds of stardust.
The ancients spoke of a world tree that was sometimes portrayed as rooted in the stars and sky. It grew outward and down to shed its seeds of creation upon the earth.
There is magic in watching the evening sky--the anticipation of it slowly becoming strewn with stars as if they were seeds cast from a gourd.
Do stars and planets know where they are going?
How does a seed know what to be when it grows up?
Are these two things connected?
